A modern and small church, adjacent to the town's cemetery on the northwestern side of the northern hill. It is rectangular in shape, with a length of 11.80 m and a width of 6.90 m. It has four icons depicted in the modern Greek style, and dates back to the years between 1968 and 1970, from the portrayal of the monastery sisters of Saint Ya`qub al-Farisi sliced in the town of Dideh - Koura. The church is adjacent to the statue quarter, in relation to the statue of Sheikh Gerges El-Azar, whose base still exists, was one of the most important men of the Koura and Amioun at the time of the Mutasarrifiyya. His rule of the region lasted from 1892 until 1908. To commemorate his memory, a bronze statue was constructed, but it was stolen following the invasion of Amioun in the civil war.
Next to the church, there are cemeteries for the residents of the western neighborhood of the town, and near it, a playground for the Amioun Youth Club was established in the early nineties of the last century. |
