al ramieh square
A large square lying on the south-western gate of the old town, this area used to be a large hole, surrounded by carved stone walls, and was mainly used for the collection of rainfall as well as a water tank for the residents. With the installation of a potable water system in the mid-20th century, the municipality closed the hole and created a large square. There are many caves which can be seen directly from the square, and many more are found inside the nearby residential houses.
